Launch Your Campaign

Complete this form to submit a new SponsorMe campaign for review. Use the “Tips for Your Campaign on this page to guide you through the form. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact MIPA.

We’ll review your campaign before publishing it on the SponsorMe site. You’ll receive an email when that happens. If you don’t hear from us within 2 business days, please feel free to contact us to check in.

The title of your campaign should include your name and/or the name of the media program, as well as some indication for what you’re raising money for. For example: “Joe Sparty’s MIPA Summer Workshop Campaign” or “Help The Student Times Participate in MIPA Activities.”

Tips for Your Campaign

Individual students can create a MIPA SponsorMe campaign to raise money to attend the MIPA Summer Journalism Workshop and school-sponsored media programs may created campaigns to pay for participation in a variety of MIPA activities. MIPA also uses the SponsorMe platform to raise money for some of our scholarships and other projects. All funds raised are paid to the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Funds raised by summer workshop student campaigns must be spent to attend the next scheduled workshop; unspent funds may be transferred to MIPA’s general workshop scholarship fund to help other students in need. Media programs may hold over unspent SponsorMe funds to future years as long as they meet MIPA’s criteria to remain active.

Description

Write a description for your campaign. This is so potential donors can learn more about you and what you hope to do. Students: Share a little bit about yourself and why you want to attend the MIPA Summer Journalism Workshop. Media programs: Share a little about your school and program. Do not include any personal contact information in your description, as this is published for everyone on the Internet to see!

Short Description

Write a one-sentence summary of your campaign, based on the description you just wrote.

Category

Choose “Support a Student” if you’re raising money for an individual student. School-based media programs should select “Support a School Program” for your category.

Image

Upload a photo. This image will help donors find your campaign. Students: Use a photo that clearly shows your face. Horizontal photos work best. Try to find the original, high-resolution version of a photo – not one pulled from social media.

Video

OPTIONAL: Create a video to include with your campaign. A video can be a great way for you to share your goals and ask for financial help. Keep your video to 2 minutes or shorter. Upload your video to a video service such as YouTube or Vimeo and submit the URL on the campaign form. Make sure your video is set to public.

Start and End Dates

You can set your start date for today.

End dates will vary based on your campaign. If you’re raising money to attend the summer workshop, we recommend an end date no later than June 30. After that, the price goes up.

Funding Goal

Set a campaign goal for how much money you want to raise.

End Method

Select Target Goal & Date.

Contributor Table

Check the box next to “Show contributor table on campaign single pages.”

Terms & Conditions

If you haven’t already done so, this would be a good time to read the fine print. Our FAQ page also may answer some questions you have.

Submit Campaign!

Submit your campaign for approval. We’ll review your campaign before publishing it on the SponsorMe site. You’ll receive an email when that happens. If you don’t hear from us within 2 business days, please contact us to check in.

Then What?

Once your campaign is posted on SponsorMe, start to tell your colleagues, friends, family, neighbors and others about it! Use social media to raise awareness about your campaign. The more people you can tell about your Pledge System campaign, the more likely you are to meet your fundraising goal! Here are six ways you can ensure the success of your campaign.

Register for the Summer Workshop!

Don’t forget to complete the registration forms for the Summer Workshop! The form you’ve just filled out creates your SponsorMe campaign – it does not register you for the workshop. Go over to the Summer Workshop page at mipamsu.org to register.

The MIPA office will apply the funds you raise on SponsorMe to your workshop registration balance. We’ll send you periodic updates about any balance remaining due.

What happens to money you raise via SponsorMe if you don’t attend the workshop or if you raise more than you need?

If you do not attend this year’s workshop, or if you raise more money than you needs toward your registration, the money you raised may be transferred to MIPA’s general scholarship fund to help students who cannot afford to attend the program without financial assistance. MIPA will honor requests from donors to transfer such unused funds to another student attending the current year’s workshop. We are unable to hold funds for use next year.

Funds donated for use by a specific school program may be held over to be used in future years as long as the program meets the requirements set forth above.

Good luck!

Please let us know if you have any questions!
