When I started studying journalism in 2024, I didn't expect to find my calling. I initially took the introductory journalism class at my school just to have a class with my friends, but I found myself enamoured with the work. I joined Knight Life, the student publication at Loy Norrix High School, and immediately started working on article after article. I built a portfolio of articles and editing experience and started participating in extracurricular journalism programs like the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association Summer Workshop. When I attended the workshop last year, I blossomed as a journalist. I met dozens of likeminded students and was taught unique writing techniques by professionals that I was able to carry into the most recent school year. The experience that I gained from that workshop has helped me to develop my skills and knowledge, landing me a position as editor-in-chief for Knight Life. I would love another opportunity to attend the MIPA summer workshop, and I need your help to make that possible.
